Designing a product label for any type of merchandise requires research and compromise. Since there are so many products in the world today, it’s very important to visually standout when on a shelf. Knowing what’s on that shelf will help weed out whats been done. Only then, can the requests of the client be implemented into what will be done to complete the product label. The design process begins with pencil on paper.

Concept sketches are only as detailed as they have to be, they are rudimentary at best. Text is usually displayed as squiggle lines and raw concepts are displayed for review. The key is to merge the ideas of the client, the needs of the consumer, while at the same time following the rules of design.

Design:
The title treatment just wasn’t enough to support this product label. An illustration of a blue rabbit was needed to complete the branding process. Determining the angle in which it would be displayed was important to research and review, so that a discussion during the presentation of the concept sketches would reveal a final solution that the client would appreciate.

Production:
Developing a custom dye cut label requires experience. Making a perfect visual solution that pops off of the shelf, reads well from a distance and bends properly around the product requires perfection. Final production art can make or break the success of a new product.
