Professionally branding a place of business with a dental logo that people see, customers remember and the owner loves is much more than just creating a graphic design. The process is more like problem solving than creating artwork because often times a client has no idea what they want. And, sometimes when they do know and see exactly what they requested, on occasion it is immediately realized upon viewing the concept sketches that it just isn’t working. Chromatic Path can solve this kind of situation. The following two images are the final logo options displayed to provide choices for manufacturing the building sign.
Design: This dental logo began with a specific request for an icon drawing. Concept sketches focused around an icon based design, although after reviewing the preliminary sketches this client didn’t gravitate to anything and emphasized a concern over the creative process and direction. When this occurs within the sketching stage it’s important to stop the current direction and refocus the design development with a typography based solution. So, equal time was dedicated to search through thousands of fonts to select just a few to discuss as an appropriate solution. Proceeding from there quickly lead to the client aggressively wanting a typographic solution. A font was chosen, modifications were made to make it completely original and then an iconic solution was generated from that point with little effort to achieve success.
Production: The final mechanical production art of this dental logo went very quickly as it is primarily typography based. Modifications were made to a few letters to ensure a uniqueness that can’t be seen anywhere else. Selecting colors was the last stage of this project and the client already knew what colors to use, so picking the specific Pantones resulted in a final solution relatively fast.
